Important Notes
Use a transparent PNG overlay for the magazine cover frame.
The overlay and background must have the same resolution and aspect ratio.
For this example, we’re using a 4x6 template (1200x1800 px).
Online Background Removal is recommended for best results (requires internet and credits).
Ensure proper green screen lighting and an even background setup for professional keying results.
Background Removal works for Photos, GIFs, and Bursts, but not VideoFX.
Guide
Step 1: Access Photo Templates
Navigate to your Snappic Dashboard.
Select your Event.
Open the Photo Templates section.
Click Edit to modify an existing template, or Create New Template to start fresh.
Step 2: Create a New Template
Click Create Template.
Under Template Layout Creator, choose your Frame Size (e.g., 4x6 - 1240x1844).
Select the Upload Overlay and Upload Background options if needed.
For a magazine cover layout, we’ll upload a transparent PNG overlay that includes magazine-style text and branding elements.
Step 3: Upload the Overlay
Upload your transparent PNG overlay file (the magazine frame).
Ensure it’s the correct size (e.g., 1200x1800 px).
This overlay will sit above the captured photo, forming the “magazine cover” border.

💡 Tip: Use Photoshop, Canva, or Photopea to design your overlay and export as a transparent PNG.
Step 4: Add and Fill the Frame
Under Frame Position & Size, click + Add Frame.
Click Fill Template to ensure the frame fills the entire background area.
Step 5: Save Template Changes
Select Single Overlay for your design.
Click Save Changes to finalize your template setup.
Step 6: Enable Background Removal
Go back to your Event Dashboard.
Open the Green Screen settings tab.
Under BG Removal Type, select Online BG.
Requires an internet connection.
Uses BG Removal credits.
Does not show a live preview but provides professional results.
For physical green screen setups, ensure even lighting and no shadows.
Step 7: Upload Your Magazine Background
Under Image Backgrounds, click Upload.
Upload your magazine background image — ensure it matches the same size as your photo template (4x6 at 1200x1800 px).
If desired, you can upload multiple backgrounds to create a rotating magazine cover theme.
You can drag and drop backgrounds to change the order they appear in the app.
Step 8: Save and Test Your Setup
Click Save Changes on both the Template and Green Screen tabs.
Launch your event in the Snappic App.
Test your magazine cover by capturing a photo:
The app will automatically remove the background.
The transparent PNG overlay will apply the magazine design.
The final image will appear as if the guest is on a real magazine cover!
💡 Pro Tip: Use Snappic’s App Experience Settings to customize the attract screen or add a branded background to enhance the magazine theme.
