What Is the Duplicate Frame Feature?

The Duplicate Frame button creates an exact copy of a selected frame, carrying over its size and photo assignment. This saves time when building layouts that require multiple frames of the same size β€” you set up one frame correctly, then duplicate and reposition as needed.

How to Duplicate a Frame

Step 1 β€” Select the Frame You Want to Duplicate

Click on the frame in the template canvas to select it. The Frame Position & Size panel on the left will populate with that frame's current values.

Step 2 β€” Click Duplicate Frame

In the Frame Controls section, click the Duplicate Frame button. A copy of the frame will be created in the same position as the original.

Step 3 β€” Reposition the Duplicated Frame

The new frame will appear on top of the original. Use the X and Y fields in the Frame Position & Size panel to move it to the correct position, then click Update to apply.

πŸ’‘ You can also click and drag the frame directly on the canvas to reposition it.

Step 4 β€” Adjust Size if Needed

If the duplicated frame needs to be a different size, update the Width and Height fields and click Update.

Step 5 β€” Reassign the Photo if Needed

By default, the duplicated frame may inherit the same photo number as the original. Use the Photo dropdown to assign the correct photo slot (e.g. Photo 1, Photo 2, Photo 3), then click Update.

Example β€” Multi-Copy Layout

A common use case for duplicating frames is building multi-copy layouts such as mini strips or keychains, where the same set of photos needs to repeat across multiple sections of a single print.

For example, on a 2x6" (600 Γ— 1800px) template divided into three equal sections, each section is 600px tall. To repeat the same frame layout in each section, duplicate your frames and increase the Y value by 600 for each new section.

Example Coordinate Reference (600 Γ— 1800 template, 3 sections)

Section

Y Start

Frames

Section 1 (top)

Y: 0

Photo 1, 2, 3

Section 2 (middle)

Y: 600

Photo 1, 2, 3

Section 3 (bottom)

Y: 1200

Notes

  • The maximum frame count is 10 frames per template.

  • Always click Update after making any changes to frame position, size, or photo assignment.

  • For layouts that would exceed 10 frames, consider designing the background or overlay in Photoshop or Canva with pre-cut openings, and use fewer frames in Snappic to fill them.
