Unfortunately, it is still not possible to upload GIFs to an album on Facebook but now you can choose whether or not a still frame from one of the GIFs uploads to the album or only the still photos from your event. 

Go to the 'Social' section on your dashboard and enable "upload still frames for GIF/Burst" if you require this functionality.
