Snappic allows you to print GIFs effortlessly, whether you’re using GIF or Burst mode. This guide walks you through how to enable GIF printing in your event settings, configure print templates, print directly from the app, and access digital copies of your prints. We’ll use a pre-made template in this tutorial for demonstration.

Important Notes

  • You must enable Still and GIF/Burst features for printing to work.

  • Digital GIF templates and physical print templates are configured separately.

  • Only printed sessions will generate a digital file on the microsite.

  • GIFs use 1-frame digital outputs; prints may use multi-frame templates that have been added to Still templates.

  • Auto Print must be enabled if you want every printed photo to be saved digitally.

  • The number of frames captured during a GIF or Burst session is determined by the highest frame count among your photo print templates.

  • If your event includes a 5-frame photo template, Snappic will capture five frames per GIF session, even if your GIF template is only 3 frames.

  • This behavior acts as a fail-safe, ensuring all frames are available if GIF printing is enabled later or if multi-frame prints are needed.

  • Disabling GIF printing does not stop frame capture — Snappic still collects the required number of frames based on your photo templates to allow printing flexibility.

  • Snappic automatically adjusts the frames used for printing if your print template supports fewer frames than were captured (for example, printing 3 of 5 frames).

Understanding GIF Frame Capture and Printing Behavior

When you enable GIF and Burst modes, Snappic uses your photo print templates to determine how many frames are captured during each GIF session.

For example, if your event includes multiple photo templates — such as:

  • Template 1: 1 frame

  • Template 2: 2 frames

  • Template 3: 5 frames

Then Snappic will capture five frames per GIF session, because the 5-frame print template requires that many images for printing.

Even if your GIF templates are designed as 3-frame animations, Snappic will still capture five frames to ensure all templates can print correctly. This acts as a fail-safe, allowing future printing of GIFs that match the multi-frame photo templates — without needing to retake the session.

Disabling GIF printing in the event settings prevents the GIFs from being printed at the booth, but it does not stop Snappic from capturing all required frames. The system still collects the maximum number of frames needed for the configured photo templates, ensuring printing can be enabled later if desired.

How to Enable GIF and Burst Printing

Enable GIF/Burst Features

  • Go to your event in the Snappic dashboard.

  • Scroll to the Features section and click Edit.

  • Enable both Still and GIF/Burst modes.

Configure Digital Output Templates

  • When you enable GIF/Burst, you’ll be taken to the setup page.

  • Select a template from the library or upload your own GIF digital template.

    • Reminder: This is not the print template.

Allow GIF Printing

  • Ensure “Disable GIF printing” is not checked (see image below).

  • If prompted again under the Burst section, ensure “Disable Burst printing” is also not checked.

  • Click Save to apply your changes.

Set Print Frames for GIF Output

  • Go to the Photo Template section of your event.

  • Choose a print template from Snappic's library or use Create Template to design your own.

  • These print frames will be used to physically print the GIF content.

  • Click Save when finished.

How to Print GIFs from the App

Connect Your Printer

  • Launch the Snappic app and load your event.

  • Go to Configure Printer and connect via:

    • AirPrint

    • Or the Snappic Print Server for Mac/Windows.

Run a GIF or Burst Session

  • Start your booth and choose GIF or Burst mode.

  • The app will:

    • Display your 1-frame GIF/Burst digital template.

    • Then show a prompt: Pick Your Print Frame (see examples below).

Frame Matching Note:
If your GIF captures 4 frames but the selected print template supports only 3, Snappic will automatically exclude one image to match the print layout.

How to Get a Digital Copy of the Print

  • By default, print templates are not saved to the device gallery.

  • However, users can get digital copies via the microsite link they receive when sharing the GIF.

    • The GIF appears under the “GIF” section.

    • The digital print appears under “Photo” (see images below).

This only works if printing occurred at the booth.
If you want every print to generate a digital copy on the microsite, enable Auto Print in your event settings.
