Snappic can operate without a constant internet connection during your event. However, there are some important details to understand regarding sharing and printing when offline.

This includes options for stable WiFi, limited connectivity, and even completely offline situations, ensuring you can maintain functionality under any circumstances.

Important Notes

  • Internet is required only for event setup and photo sharing.

  • You can continue to capture and print photos offline without issue.

  • Queued uploads will automatically resume once the iPad reconnects.

  • If sharing instantly is a key feature for your event, ensure a stable WiFi or mobile hotspot connection. Consider using a personal hotspot as a reliable alternative when venue WiFi is unavailable, as it avoids issues like firewalls and connectivity barriers.

Setting Up Your Event

You will initially need internet access on your iPad to:

If venue WiFi is unavailable, you can use a mobile personal hotspot for initial setup tasks like event registration.

  • Add your event to the Snappic app

  • Download all required resources (templates, overlays, settings, etc.)

Once your event is fully downloaded and started, an internet connection is no longer mandatory to run your photo booth.

Running Your Event Offline

If your iPad loses internet connectivity during the event:

  • Snappic will queue all shares and uploads in the background.

  • Guests will not receive their photos instantly, but Snappic will automatically send them as soon as the iPad reconnects to the internet. If these uploads do not resume automatically, reconnect to a better network, open the Snappic app, and contact support if necessary.

This allows your event to continue running smoothly even without live connectivity.

Alternative Connectivity Options

When WiFi is unavailable or unreliable, you can rely on other methods:

  1. Using Phones Without a Carrier:

    1. Devices without cellular service can still connect to WiFi networks to perform all necessary operations with Snappic.

  2. Local Wireless Networks:

    • Use a router to create a private network for seamless device communication and on-site services like printing.

Even if your iPad is offline, you can still print on-site β€” as long as your iPad and printer are connected to the same local network. See our Printing Guide for more on printing.

Alternatively, create a private WiFi network using a router to facilitate printing without needing internet access.

  • Printing does not require internet access, but it does require a network connection (WiFi or LAN).

  • Your photos will still be queued for online upload and automatically sent once internet access is restored. For venues without internet, a local WiFi network created with a router can enable direct printing while maintaining queue functionality for future uploads.

Troubleshooting Connectivity Issues

  1. Slow or No WiFi:

    • If uploads are stalled, reconnect to a stronger network and open Snappic to resume. Consider switching to mobile hotspots if needed.

  2. Device Registration:

    • For venues without WiFi, use a mobile hotspot temporarily to register your iPad and sync events properly before starting.

  3. Photo Sharing:

    • Ensure consistent internet through WiFi or a personal hotspot for sharing photos in real-time.
