How to use Roaming Photography Mode in Snappic
Roaming Photography mode is built for professional photographers and roaming operators who want to capture high-quality event photos on the move without relying on a fixed photo booth setup.
Unlike traditional Photo Booth Mode, where guests or attendants need to start their own sessions, Roaming Photography Mode gives full control to the photographer. Using the Snappic photo booth app on an iPad or iPhone, photographers can walk through an event with the device connected to a DSLR, capture candid moments instantly, and show guests their photos for review and sharing, all from one device.
This feature is ideal for weddings, corporate activations, and live events where mobility, speed, and professionalism matter most.

Important Notes
➡️ Independent Modes – You can turn Roaming and Photo Booth Modes on or off separately. Just go to Event Info → Advanced Tab for Photobooths and Roaming Tab for Roaming to change these settings.
➡️ Device Compatibility – Works on iPad or iPhone, and works best when paired with a DSLR camera for professional quality. You will need to connect the Device to the DSLR with a cable
➡️ Interface Notes – The layout and toggle names may evolve slightly in future Snappic updates.
➡️ Consistent templates and filters: Your selected layout, AI effect, or background remains locked until the photographer manually changes it.
➡️ Instant readiness: The system resets to camera mode after every save.
➡️ Hands-on guest experience: The photographer can hand the device to the guest for quick sharing. SmartShare which offers a significant advantage by allowing users to enter their details just once!
Known Limitations
⚠️ Feature Dependencies: Some shared features, such as Approval Requests or Excess Media Capture, require separate setup.
⚠️ No Guest Surveys Mid-Session: In Roaming Mode, surveys or terms appear after capture instead of before.
⚠️ Auto Orientation: In Roaming Mode, you cannot switch the DSLR orientation from vertical to horizontal or vice versa. It must remain in a fixed orientation.
What is Roaming Photography Mode
Roaming Photography Mode allows photographers to capture event photos freely and utilize photo booth features such as templates, filters, digital props, AI, instant sharing, analytics and more.
Using a mobile device and DSLR (instead of a fixed photo booth setup), the photographer can load Snappic's software onto the iOS device and connect it to a DSLR camera, allowing the photographer to roam freely throughout the event. The photographer controls every shot and can instantly show guests their captures on their device screen, allowing them to retake or share their image on the spot.
When a capture is saved or shared, the app stays on the camera screen so it is ready for the next shot. This removes the need for "Tap to Start" or reselecting templates after every session.
Setting Up in Snappic (Step-by-Step)
Open your event in the Snappic Dashboard and scroll down to Event Options.
2. Go to Event Options → Advanced Tab → Roaming
3. There are four sections where you can configure settings. Enable Roaming Photography, Roaming Mode Settings, Session Captured and Review Settings, and Image Review Settings
4. Toggle on the settings you would like for your session. (They are all explained below in the next section)
5. Save your changes and sync to the app.

It allows users to select which images they want to include in the frame. Click here for more information on this feature: (Damir to link the Article to excess media Capture)
Show captured media previews: Shows the previews in the middle of the device with all of the images previously captured.
3. Session Captured & Review Settings
Show Recent Sessions on Capture Screen: Display a live gallery bar during capture. Users will need to double-click on the arrow to show the entire gallery.
Show Preview for guest approval : Allow guests to preview the final output and retake one or more images if they are not happy, or approve the image.
4. Image Review & Sharing
Show Image Review/Sharing Page (Roaming): Determine whether the sharing screen should appear after each session. This option allows you to continue capturing seamlessly. Once you click "Done," the system returns to the live view, enabling you to start a new session.
Feature Comparison: Photo Booth Mode vs. Roaming Mode
In Photo Booth Mode, the guest or attendant begins by choosing their experience, template, background, AI-FX option, and then starts the photo session. Once the photo is taken and shared, the app goes back to the initial screen for the guest to choose their experience, and they will go through the process again before taking the next image.
In Roaming Mode, the photographer begins by choosing their experience, template, background, AI-FX option, and then starts the photo session. They will then be able to take several photos of the guests continuously, while remaining on the photo capture screen. They can also access the sharing screen, allowing guests to share their image with them. Once the image is shared, the app will return to the photo capture screen, enabling the photographer to continue taking photos. The photographer needs to exit the session in order to start the process again.
